Indian Polity: An Easy Scorer

What I have experienced in last one and half year preparation is that Polity is one area which most of the candidates find easy to cover may be because of easy availability of good material and practical use in day to day life, still it is imperative to prepare properly for this part as it can add easy marks in your marksheet. Knowledge in polity also helps a candidate to prepare for essay and interview also.

Source of Reading

Polity by Laxmikant: This book alone is a very good source of material for polity paper and covers almost 100% syllabus for civil service exam. One should read this book for multiple numbers of times for conceptual clarity and for memorizing the articles as well.

Newspaper: Newspaper is a very good source for polity section. One should keep an eye on latest SC judgments and new bills or act passed by the government in parliament and feature of those bills/acts.

Website: Parliament website is again a good source for the parliament section in Indian polity.

Notes:

ü  Read chronologically to memorize the articles.
ü  Quote articles or SC judgments while writing the questions, if possible.
ü  Polity concepts should be interlinked while reading the newspaper; it will help in better understanding the newspaper part.
ü  Note down the new terms appearing in the current affairs as there is huge chance of coming that term in the exam.

Although polity area seems to be easy to cover but proper preparation is needed to gain the conceptual clarity.

I will be writing soon for Science & Technology part which I understand troubles a lot to maximum candidates. Comments, suggestions and queries are always welcome.
